I did not like this novel. Want to Read Currently Reading Read. Still there is something nice and genuinely touching view spoiler [ not in a creepy way like a predatory employer hide spoiler ] in people wanting to read and ne write about dead people like Nietzsche, Breuer and Freud rather than mysteriously topless muscular firemen or kad je nice plakao or treasure hunting Nazis and what have you.

Js from the source spring rather than the still water in the carafe, he learned to read the firsthand kad je nice plakao and then the philologer became a philosopher. Yalom – 4 stars. Irvin David Yalom, M.

Ce mi-a placut insa este efortul autorului de a se transpune la inceputurile psihanalizei, de a se pune in piele terapeutului lipsit total de mijloacele meseriei jee si chiar de numele sau. He did extensive research on his characters and I think I may have found them somewhat less annoying if I knew which parts were real and which were fabricated. The idea of bringing Nietzsche and Breuer together and setting a novel is certainly appealing.

For those who want a good book to read, I can recommend any number of other novels, and for those who nce a basic introduction to Nietzsche or psychoanalysi I realize this novel was intended as a “teaching tool” nevertheless I was let down; it wasn’t particularly entertaining, and certainly not riveting or enlightening.

One should not expect kad je nice plakao encounter superheros ubermenschen in the novel, even if the main characters are indeed kad je nice plakao giants.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. I haven’t read a novel in a while!

Yalom’s attempts to authenticate the nineteenth kad je nice plakao Vienna setting are often kad je nice plakao and contrived, stopping the flow of the story even more than his needless repetition of events that already occurred.

I found that it over-simplified many complex themes in both psychology and philosophy and it felt very much as if I were reading a very long and verbose version of Cliffs Notes. The eminent physician Josef Breuer is asked to treat Friedrich Nietzsche’s suicidal despair after the end of a love affair – without his knowing it.

After the reader is introduced to the basic conflict and the problem the main character faces not being able to stop daydreaming about a crazy woman it just slows down. Education is never entertaining atleast not in the general sense of the word!

Nor do I think it is really “a novel of obsession.

Books by Irvin D. These stuffs do not add much to the developing kad je nice plakao the story, but provide a lot of repetitions of evetns the reader already knows about, and are rather dumb and boring to read. Although, Kad je nice plakao might be the one who expects too much of such a title and this might be my own illusion. The idea that each one of us must find and face our truth is well communicated.
